In preparation for the EHMC 2026 Conference, the European Health Management Association (EHMA) has opened a Call for Abstracts to invite the submission of original works to be presented at the event. The conference will serve as a forum to showcase best practices, models, case studies, and share innovative ideas and knowledge in health management with a wide audience of academics, researchers, health managers, healthcare professionals and policymakers from Europe and beyond. 

The theme of the conference is “Future-proofing health systems for a changing world: from strategy to action”, and it will take place in Barcelona from 10 to 12 June 2026.  

The call is open to researchers, practitioners and other stakeholders engaged in health management. For the general “Abstract or Short Paper” category, individuals may submit up to three abstracts as primary author, co-author or presenter. For the Karolinska Institutet Medical Management Centre (MMC) & EHMA Research Award, submissions are reserved for PhD students wishing to share contributions derived from their doctoral theses. 

The objective of the call is to solicit high-quality submissions addressing current and emerging challenges in health system management, to foster discussion on how health systems can be made resilient, sustainable, and ready for demographic, technological, social and environmental change. The idea is to move from strategic thinking to tangible implementation, exploring how health systems can be future-proof.  

Submissions are required to be aligned with one or more of the conference tracks and topics, as indicated in the guidelines.

• Finance and economics 

• Policy and regulations 

Conference topics under the overarching theme:
