About the European Society of Cardiology (ESC)

The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) is an autonomous, nonprofit organization, which unites healthcare experts and decision-makers. The ESC comprises 28 cardiovascular subspecialty communities covering the full spectrum of cardiology. They include our associations, working groups and councils, enabling us to provide expert knowledge to cardiovascular clinicians and researchers. More than 105,000 cardiologists from around Europe, the Mediterranean Basin, and far beyond are represented by the ESC.

ESC Congress 2023

Between the 25^th and the 28^th of August cardiologists and researchers come together at the ESC Congress 2023 to share knowledge and learn from their colleagues, peers, and cardiology role models. Heart failure will be the main topic of discussion during the Congress. Many of the issues that cardiologists deal with, such as coronary artery disease, valve issues, stroke, arrhythmias, and sudden death, are either the cause of or sequelae from heart failure. The Congress will cover all aspects of cardiovascular medicine, presenting and debating the most recent research discoveries while offering in-depth clinical instruction and practice-changing education. Attend the ESC Congress to have the opportunity to connect, gain new perspectives, create synergies with the global cardiology community and join forces to protect the heart!

AFFIRMO and the ESC Congress 2023

AFFIRMO’s consortium is directly and actively involved in the ESC Congress 2023! 

Dr Gregory Yh Lip from the University of Liverpool will hold the following sessions:

1. State-of-the-art lecture on stroke and bleeding risk in atrial fibrillation: walking the tightrope (25^th of August)
2. Atrial fibrillation: screening and outcomes (25^th of August)
3. How to implement integrated holistic management of atrial fibrillation in routine practice (28^th of August)

Furthermore, Dr Aldo Pietro Maggioni from Heart Care Foundation Onlus will hold a session on the 28^th of August titled “An Italian real-world analysis of obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy through a large administrative healthcare database
