AFFIRMO Project to Showcase at 20th EuGMS Congress in Valencia

 The AFFIRMO project is set to participate in the upcoming 20th European Geriatric Medicine Society (EuGMS) Congress, which will take place in Valencia, Spain, from September 18th to 20th, 2024. This year's congress, themed "From Healthy Ageing to Complex Needs in Older Adults," will explore the diverse challenges and opportunities in geriatric care, reflecting the varied ageing processes across different regions and demographics. 

The EuGMS Congress is a pivotal event in the field of geriatric medicine, bringing together leading researchers, clinicians, and policy-makers to discuss advancements in healthcare for older adults. The event aims to address the complex needs of this demographic, emphasizing the importance of personalized and adaptive healthcare approaches. 

The AFFIRMO project will be featured in a dedicated symposium on September 20th at 10:30 AM in Multi Purpose Room 1B+D. This symposium, under the broader session "European Projects: Tools for Training & Knowledge Transfer in Geriatrics - From Research to Practice," will highlight innovative methodologies and projects aimed at improving geriatric care through training and knowledge dissemination. 

Agenda: 

Guendalina Graffigna from Italy will present the AFFIRMO project, focusing on the management of multimorbidity in patients with chronic long-term conditions. The presentation, titled "Addressing the Multimorbid Patient with Chronic Long-Term Conditions: The Value of Stakeholder Engagement and Patient Empowerment," will emphasize the importance of involving various stakeholders, including patients, in the care process. This approach aims to enhance patient empowerment and optimize health outcomes through tailored care strategies.  

The symposium will also feature two presentations on other EU-funded projects.This is a clustering activity that promotes collaboration and the exchange of knowledge in geriatric care.

  1. Tailoring training tools for health care professionals in the nursing home setting. A collaborative approach between end- users and researchers (IMAGINE) -Ana Garcia-Sangenis, Spain 
  2. AI derived prognostication of functional outcomes and treatment impact in older persons on an interactive platform -how to educate clinicians? The ICARE 4 OLD project (I-Care4Old) Hein v.d. Hout, The Netherlands 

The AFFIRMO project's participation underscores its commitment to advancing geriatric care through innovative research and practical applications.
