The National Research Council of Italy (CNR) is the largest Italian public research organization, counting more than 90 institutes and more than 8000 researchers. Its mission is to carry out, promote, spread, transfer and improve research activities in the main sectors of knowledge and their applications for the scientific, technological, economic and social development. The CNR Institute involved in AFFIRMO project is the Institute of Neuroscience (IN). In particular, the “Aging Branch” group of the CNR-IN located in Padua will participate in the project.
The multidisciplinary research carried out at the “Aging Branch” of the CNR-IN focuses on planning and analysing epidemiological data on aging, in particular in projects dealing with the promotion of healthy aging and the prevention of chronic diseases. Biomedical, social and psychological factors that have the greatest impact on disability, frailty, and chronic diseases are the focus of the research.
The “Aging Branch” of the CNR-IN (Padua) will participate in WP2. In collaboration with UNIPD, CNR will harmonize data from an existing Italian population-based study, the Progetto Veneto Anziani Study (Pro.V.A.), contributing to identify clusters of multimorbidity in older adults with AF. Moreover, thanks to its solid background and expertise in the field of aging epidemiology, CNR-IN will contribute to the interpretation of the results obtained from the project.
